With a workforce of some 93,000 employees, Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG is a global leader in energy technology. The company offers a wide range of products, solutions and services for generating, transmitting and storing electrical energy. Its latest generation of switchgear is manufactured at the company’s Berlin-Spandau site. Siemens Energy has used more than 2500 item solutions to expand and redesign its workshops.
Sustainability at Siemens Energy – with support from item
Standardisation and sustainability are key priorities at Siemens Energy – and the company has similar expectations of its partners, too. At its Berlin plant, the company produces high-voltage switchgear that will be insulated using chemically pure air instead of sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) in the future. This change will reduce environmental pollution and ensure compliance with strict sustainability criteria. In another step towards sustainability, up to 75% of the item components installed can be reused. This means that many of the same materials can be redeployed when production lines are modified.
