The new Guard 8 opens up a whole new dimension in safety. This system solution makes planning flexible, ensures compliance with technical standards and can be integrated into any machine environment. The preassembled guard elements meet the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14120 and are available with different levels of impact resistance. As a result, the process of creating flexibly configurable solutions for enclosures and guards that are easy to install is both simple and efficient – without compromising on function or stability in any way.
Rapid planning and straightforward assembly – designing guards now takes next to no time thanks to user-friendly configurators and the new guard elements. These elements have been designed to comply with DIN EN ISO 14120 requirements and can even be configured to withstand impact loads of up to 767 Joules, as demonstrated by comprehensive testing.
Modular design for maximum flexibility
The new Guard 8 system comprises four configurable modules – Guard Sections, Fixed Panels, Intersectional Panels and Posts. These modules can be combined as required. Steel mesh, corrugated mesh and impact-resistant polycarbonate are available as infills. Fixed Panels are recommended if the guard will need to be opened for routine maintenance work. Intersectional Panels are fitted permanently, normally between Guard Sections. Compatibility with the item Building Kit System means guard elements can be combined with accessories such as indicator lights, monitors and sensors, which can simply be fitted to a groove.
Guards can be configured in both the Online Shop and the item Engineeringtool. In the Online Shop, users select their chosen panel element and their required impact resistance and then enter the relevant dimensions. The intelligent online software takes care of all the remaining details. It calculates the number of fixing blocks needed to hold the panel element, the necessary profile cross-sections, and the kind of construction needed to deliver the required impact resistance. This ensures guard panels meet the relevant technical standards.
The customised panels can be ordered directly from the Online Shop and are supplied preassembled. However, further configuration work and adjustments can be carried out in the item Engineeringtool to create complete guards from the individual elements or make changes to the design.
Guard 8 from item is a dependable, standard-compliant solution that offers seamless protection for people and machinery. It can be used as a machine enclosure, for example, but also to section off robot cells and other sensitive areas.
